I hope you enjoyed the holidays and that you’re making the most of 2013 so far.
This year my goal is to improve my health / wellness / self-care regimens – getting back into the yoga practice that I let slide during the holiday rush, dancing more, nourishing my body, and working towards eliminating harmful things from my diet & environment.
I want to step up my game, get back on track in some areas that I fell short on last year, and keep up the good habits that maintained in 2012.
It’s been a hobby of mine to read about health, nutrition, wellness and herbalism the last 14+ years, and one of my favorite things to do is to share what I’ve learned with my friends and family.
Sometimes I feel like I have to keep this blog related to t-shirts and art, but I know I need to step out of my self-imposed box and really start expressing myself more fully. My biggest goal is to share what I’ve learned with you.
I’m not an expert, just someone who feels it’s important to take responsibility for my health, to be as self-sufficient as I can, and to help others do the same.
I take a lot of time to study health & wellness, but don’t always incorporate everything I learn into my life.
I have to admit that I learn about things that I know are important to do, but that sometimes I’m reluctant to try them, convincing myself that it will be too hard, take to much time be too expensive. Sometimes I let myself to get intimidated by the steps involved, tell myself I’m too busy running my business, or come up with some other reason to just keep putting it off.
I know that it’s time for me to stop making excuses and to start doing what I know I have to do.
Hopefully in the process I’ll inspire you to do the same.
You can call it a new years resolution or just a commitment to do better (and to do more of what I think is the best way to help others – to lead by example). Instead of setting myself up for failure with unrealistic expectations, I know that for me the best thing to do is just slowly but surely work towards adding the things into my life that are nourishing, cleansing and enjoyable, which will slowly but surely push out the harmful stuff (whether its unhealthy food, a negative thought pattern, a bad habit, or a toxic body care or cleaning product that I know I shouldn’t be using).
So here’s to consistently making steps towards living the lives we really want to live.
